After featuring on Masterchef last night, it’s jumped right to the top of my list of restaurants to visit. Opened in 2008, and designed by Sandra Trruella & Isabel Lopez Vilalta, this is a beautifully modern yet calming space, warm and inviting. A perfect backdrop to the 3 michelin star food being created.

I came across this on Dezeen today, Greek architects K-studio have completed a rustic pizzeria modelled on an Italian courtyard in the centre of Athens.
A pallet made up of materials familiarly found in these spaces such as cement tiles, stucco plaster, travertine stone, blackened steel railings, and characteristic narrow wooden shutters, was used to clad the different spaces in the restaurant. The various vintage chairs add softness and a laid back feeling to the restaurant and the grey stucco plastered walls and ceiling help to enclose all of this in a textured, minimal envelope. The combination of purposefully designed elements, reclaimed materials and vintage furniture, presents an architecture that sits comfortably between the bespoke and the sourced, creating an exciting and sociable atmosphere.
A colleague stumbled upon these lovely products from Bodie & Fou whilst researching for an upcoming restaurant fit-out…Have a look at the distressed wood wallpaper too!
This is the start of what I hope will be an interesting visual diary of interior, exhibition & graphic design. As a designer I’m hoping this will allow me to build a constantly changing mood-board of ideas and may showcase the designs that inspire me from day to day…I hope that it might act as a resourse for other designers or potential clients browsing for inspiration too!
This is my inspiration for today, the Folly bar & restaurant in London, as featured on Coolboom recently…
